The policy of CQUniversity is to comply with all relevant laws and generally accepted ethical principles or codes of conduct which relate to security, privacy and intellectual property in the area of Information Technology. It is also the policy of the University to take reasonable precautions to protect staff, students and other parties against the risks of loss or harm which may arise from the use of Information Technolgoy in the University's operations.

The University is committed to these ideals. However, it should be recognised that in practice technical or financial constraints may delay or prevent their attainment.

The University expects and requires all staff and students to comply with the policies, codes of conduct, procedures and rules which are adopted and implemented by the University or within its Faculties, Divisions and Departments. Participation in training programs conducted within Faculties, Divisions and Departments is also expected and required. Non-compliance is viewed seriously and may lead to disciplinary action or, in event of breaches of the law, to referral of the matter to the police or other enforcement agencies.
